This is a senior design engineering position with responsibility for ultra-wideband GPR antenna system design including radiating elements, drive and receive RF circuit design, reflectors and frequency selective surfaces, simulation and layout.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participating in development of a new generation of subsurface imaging equipment with application to worldwide utility, construction, mining, civil engineering, forensic and security markets.
  • Designing ultra-wideband GPR systems including radiating elements, drive and receive circuits, reflectors and frequency selective surfaces, simulation and layout.
  • Designing the active transmitter and receiver, the radiating and sensing elements as well as measuring and modeling their performance.
  • Detailing design specifications as the design proceeds
  • Suggesting changes when opportunities for improvement become evident
  • Modifying first approaches when changes become necessary
  • Supporting concurrent development of other parts of the system design

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • A minimum education of a MS in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience with practical modeling and simulation of radiating and reflecting surfaces
  • Experience with  measurement of antenna performance
  • 5+ years of hands-on RF circuit design experience
  • Strong understanding of system impulse response
  • Design experience with sub-nanosecond pulse generators and/or RF amplifiers a plus
  • Understanding of small vs. large signal RF design and linearity
  • Understanding of near-field antenna loading
